Regina Lopez, MA
Who I Work With
I provide therapy to children, adolescents, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, neurodiversity, relationship and attachment concerns, identity, and life transitions. I am especially interested in working with multicultural clients. My approach is warm, relational, and collaborative, with the goal of creating a space where clients feel genuinely seen, understood, and safe to be themselves.
When working with children, I incorporate play, creativity, and developmentally appropriate interventions to help them express experiences that may be difficult to put into words. Rather than viewing behavior simply as something to change, I am curious about what it may communicate about a child’s emotions, relationships, environment, or needs. I approach neurodiversity from a strength-based and affirming perspective, honoring each client’s individual ways of experiencing and engaging with the world.
Background & Training
I am a doctoral psychology intern completing my Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology at Azusa Pacific University, with an emphasis in family systems, diversity, and faith integration. It has shaped my understanding of clients within the broader context of their relationships, families, cultures, and communities. My clinical experience includes community mental health, and multicultural settings, where I have worked with children, adolescents, adults, and families. I am a bilingual Spanish-English clinician and value providing culturally responsive care that honors each client’s lived experience.
Beliefs & Interests
I believe healing begins when pain is witnessed with care. My approach is relational, psychodynamic, attachment-based, and person-centered. I believe therapy is not always about immediately trying to fix or change what hurts; sometimes healing begins by having someone willing to sit with you and help hold what feels too difficult to carry alone.
I am curious about both what is spoken and what may be harder to put into words; the emotions, needs, and patterns that often exist beneath the surface. Together, we can explore how earlier relationships and experiences may shape the way you understand yourself, connect with others, and navigate the present. I strive to create a warm, genuine, and nonjudgmental relationship where you can feel deeply understood, become curious about yourself, and discover new ways of relating to yourself and others.
