Jazarie Low, MA
Who I work with
I provide therapeutic and psychological testing services for kids, adults, couples, and families facing emotional, education, familial, and developmental challenges! Whether that's depression and/or anxiety, adjustments in life, transitioning to adulthood, culture and community, or a diverse intersection of these issues. I utilize third wave Cognitive Behavioral practices, including — but not limited to — mindfulness practices, ACT, and DBT. Together, we can grow your toolbox, explore your identity, form goals, and equip you to better face life’s challenges in a way that is kind, compassionate, straightforward, and nonjudgmental way.
Background/Training
I am currently a doctoral candidate completing my APA internship at Help Group in Sherman Oaks. My experiences include training with a variety of severity including inpatient psychiatric hospitals, university-based counseling, homeless residential treatment, therapeutic childcare, substance use, private practice, and K-12 school counseling. I received my B.A. in Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles; my M.A. in clinical psychology from Alliant University, San Diego; and most recently, am in my final year of study for a clinical psychology doctorate, Psy.D., from Alliant University, San Diego. My diverse experiences allow for a person-centered and thorough understanding of each client.
Beliefs and Interests
I believe that each person has a unique and intersectional identity, meaning not one cure-all modality will suit them perfectly. I utilize a variety of modalities and am sure to keep up with any new or novel interventions that could be a better fit for each unique person. I also believe in taking a person-centered approach, this means you come before the diagnosis, my opinions and goals, others’ thoughts, etc. While diagnoses and collateral information is very helpful, I truly believe the client knows themselves best, and we will work together from that frame of reference. I also employ a harm reduction mindset, meaning many things in life are okay with moderation, however excess and deficit can be harmful. Using shared goals, collaboration, thoughtfulness, and consideration we can identify what that looks like for you.
